Photo: Policemen Beat Female Lawyer To Coma In Enugu It was reported that the event took place while carrying out an investigation of a rape incident which eventually lead to the beaten of a female lawyer to a coma. This media learned through a response from a local source that the female lawyer was rushed to the intensive care unit of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu where she is currently receiving treatment. A statement from the Head of Communication of WACOL, Mrs Egodi Igwe in her response to the incident, described it as a brutal attack, which is  “unacceptable” , she said. Another statement from the office of WACOL founder and director, Prof. Mrs Joy Ezeilo, described the incident as condemnable. DELSU Final Year Student Drowns In Ethiope River Delta State University, DELSU, final year student of the Department of Physiology on Sunday drowned at one of the private beaches linked to the popular River Ethiope in Ethiope East local government area of Delta State. The deceased known as Precious Omordia, reportedly went to the beach with three of his friends, a male and two females to swim when the ugly incident occurred. An eyewitnesses said that the friends of the victim fled the beach immediately they realized that the victim had drowned. One of his neighbours who embarked on a search party for him following his disappearance on Sunday said they became worried following his disappearance. A neighbour name withheld said precious left the hostel at about 1 p.m on Sunday and by 3 p.m they became worried and decided to search for him where it was gathered that he had gone swimming with his friends. Nigerians React As NYSC Pays First N33,000 Allowance To Corp Members The Federal Government of Nigerian through the national youth service Corp,    has commenced the N33,000 allowance payment to Corps  members. The payment began today, (Friday 31st January 2020), and a lot of corps members have said they have received the new allowance structure. Recall that in April 2019, President Muhammad Buhari  had signed into law an increase in the new minimum wage and NYSC. He had also approved the monthly allowance of Corps members to N33,000. The approval was affirmed by the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, at the NYSC Secretariat in Bauchi.
